BALTIMORE -- Baltimore Racing Development has raised $1.83 million towards its goal of $2.75 million for the Baltimore Grand Prix, taking in the amount from 17 investors.

The capital represents a modest increase from the $1.53 million that Baltimore Racing raised last December, as citybizlist reported.

Race organizers altered earlier plans of finding a title sponsor for the inaugural three-day racing festival, instead electing to pursue a number of smaller backers.

Named in an updated SEC filing were the following:

- James “Jay” Davidson, president
- Walker Mygatt, managing director at Constellation Energy
- David Rather, owner of Mother's Federal Hill Grille
- Peter Collier, former deputy director of the city's parking authority
- Kenneth Banks, developer
- Jerry Gottlieb, organizer
- William White

The Baltimore Grand Prix will be held in downtown Baltimore on September 2-4, 2011 as part of the 2011 IZOD IndyCar Series schedule and the 2011 American Le Mans Series schedule. The racetrack is to consist of a two-mile temporary street circuit around the Inner Harbor and Camden Yards with races and events taking place all three days - concluding with the last day's IZOD IndyCar Series race.
